Our moniker derives from both astronomy and investment. Sir Arthur Stanley Eddington was an astronomer who correctly postulated that nuclear reactions power the stars. In astronomy the 'triple alpha' process is the reaction that fuels the largest stars. In the world of investment 'double alpha' is the twin return attributable to a manager's long and short investment skill. We believe a fund of hedge funds should add a third source of return, a 'triple alpha', through expert manager selection, hence giving us the name of both our company and flagship fund.
